Call for abstracts for the “Symposium on Research in Beekeeping and Sustainable Development”, 28-29 March 2018, University of Reading, UK

The Scientific Symposium on Research in Beekeeping and Sustainable Development will take place on 28 and 29 March 2018 in Reading, UK. 

Papers for oral presentation and/or posters can be submitted until 16 February 2018

This scientific forum will bring together stakeholders to share evidence-based learning about how to effectively advance beekeeping to alleviate poverty. The themes of the Symposium are:

·         Beekeeping and the sustainable development goals, opportunities and trade-offs.

·         The role of beekeeping in poverty reduction and livelihood strategies.

·         Climate change and its impacts - mitigation and adaptation strategies for bees and beekeeping livelihoods.

·         How honey and beeswax markets work for beekeepers, their communities and local economies; accessibility, function, sustainability and relationships.

·         Beekeeping project design and integration into development planning. What success looks like? Targets and indicators for beekeeping development.

·         Value for money in beekeeping projects. Approaches to measuring effective use of resources in relation to impact achieved.

 

Abstracts should be submitted in English by email to info@beesfordevelopment.org mentioning in the subject line of the email “Abstract for Beekeeping Symposium”.
